IACS for Air Travellers
Singapore Immigration & Registration (SIR) has
introduced automated clearance to speed up immigration clearance
at the Changi Airport. This system will enable you
to enjoy privileged and hassle-free clearance through the
use of biometrics and smart card technology.
What is the Immigration Automated Clearance System (IACS)?
The Immigration Automated Clearance System (IACS) allows
frequent travellers to have immigration clearance through
automated lanes at the Changi Airport.
Travellers using IACS will be issued with a personalised
Access Card. The Access Card is a smart card in which a
traveller's fingerprint data is stored.
For immigration clearance at the automated lanes, the
cardholder needs to insert his Access Card into a card
reader and place his right thumb on the fingerprint scanner
for verification. The automated gate will open for the
holder to exit once the system authenticates the holder's
fingerprint.
Who can apply?
You may* apply for the Access Card if you are:
- a Singapore Citizen, Permanent Resident, Immigration
Long-Term Pass+ holder or Work Permit Pass
Holder;
- 12 years and above.
* Current fingerprint scanning technology cannot
accurately read the fingerprint from excessively
wet or dry fingers. We will need to exclude travelers whom
the system identifies as having fingers with
'wet' or 'dry' characteristics.
+This includes Employment Pass, Dependent's
Pass, Student's Pass and Long Term Social
Visit Pass.
How to apply?
Please apply in person at the SIR Building, Access
Card Centre, 2nd storey with the following:
- your travel document;
- a recent colour passport-sized photograph (45mm X
35mm); and
- a fee of S$30.
Important Note
- You can obtain your personalised Access Card within
a day.
- The Access Card is NOT a substitute for a
valid travel document.
- The Access Card is valid for a maximum of 2 years.
- You will be informed to re-apply when your Access
Card is due for renewal.
